Bio
Mr. Jay graduated from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art (New York City) with a B.S. in Physics. He earned the degree of Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law (Hartford, Connecticut). He is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and is a member of the Bars of Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts.
Mr. Jay’s prior experience includes private practice law firms in Connecticut and New York, as well as 25 years working for Siemens Corporation, the U.S. affiliate of Siemens Aktiengesellschaft (Siemens AG), a major German multinational corporation. At Siemens, he learned the intricacies of negotiating complex IP-centric agreements and rose to assume responsibility for structuring and negotiating agreements with many of this country’s most prominent universities and research institutions. He also acquired substantial experience in trademark matters, and for a considerable time he was in charge of all Siemens Corporation trademark matters in the United States.
He is married with one adult child. He holds a private pilot’s license and loves two-wheeled trips, having peddled his way through China (Sichuan and Yunnan Provinces, and along the border of Tibet), Myanmar (f/k/a Burma), Cambodia, Bhutan, India, South Africa, and Botswana.
